D. Y. Patil Education Society (Institution Deemed to be University) Kolhapur is registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860 with no. Maharashtra/32907/Kolhapur as of 21st November 2013. The sponsoring society began its Medical College in 1989, initially affiliated with Shivaji University, Kolhapur, and later with Maharashtra University of Health Sciences, Nashik
The Medical College shows consistent excellent academic performance, has a solid and aesthetically pleasing infrastructure, efficient and transparent governance, and significant potential for future growth
The Department of Secondary and Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resources Development, at the recommendation of the University Grants Commission under Section 3 of the UGC Act of 1956, through its Notification No. F.9-26/2004-U-3 dated 1st September 2005, gave the Deemed to be University status to the D. Y. Patil Education Society, which includes D.Y. Patil Medical College, Kolhapur.
Among its achievements, D. Y. Patil University, Kolhapur, has been awarded an ‘A’ Grade with CGPA 3.09 by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council. This grade is valid until April 2017.
